 The attractive Hotel & Résidence de
Draak is situated on the Grote Markt, in the heart of Bergen op Zoom
in the welcoming Province of Brabant. It is also known as the oldest
hotel in the Netherlands as it dates back to before 1397; the
magnificent building survived the great city fire of that period.
The hotel has now been stylishly renovated and provided with all
modern facilities.
The oldest hotel in the Netherlands
cannot be found in Amsterdam. It may surprise you, but it is located
in Bergen op Zoom, in the province of Noord-Brabant bordering the
Randstad business area and Belgium. The building survived the great
fire that swept the town in 1397. The building already served as an
inn in the 14th century and it is still there today. The building
has the authenticity and the atmosphere of centuries gone-by and
combines this with modern hospitality and up-to-date professional
skills.
 The character is visible in the many
architectural designs and artist decorations that are also clearly
recognisable in the rooms and halls. Modern hospitality is
demonstrated by the customer-minded service attitude, by the
up-to-date facilities in the hotel and the attention to detail. The
mix of good things from the past and today's hospitality makes our
hotel unique. It also makes a stay, no matter how short, an
experience.
Restaurant
Hemingway, a renowned restaurant, and the nearby cosy La Pidola food
and drinks pub are part of hotel De Draak. The Hemingway restaurant
is located at the Grote Markt, just like the hotel, in the centre of
the entertainment area of the city of Bergen op Zoom. A cinema hall
and a theatre are at walking distance. The restaurant is a meeting
place for a lunch or dinner to guests of the hotel and passers-by
alike. The menu is clearly based on the classical French cuisine.
It's a matter of course that there is a wide selection of excellent
wines at Hemingway's. Our chef Harry van Heyst leads our kitchen
staff. You will always find him ready to assist you selecting a
menu, also for your celebrations.
During the weekends, it is
recommended to book a table at Hemingway's to avoid any
disappointments.
 La Pidola food and drinks pub. The
cosy La Pidola food and drinks pub is located in the neighbouring
Het Wapen van Henegouwen building. Our hotel guests can enjoy here
the delicious dishes of the sunny Mediterranean cuisine.
Rooms and suites
Our hotel rooms are located in two buildings both bordering the
Markt. The main building, which is made up of four separate
buildings, originates from the 14th century and has many elements of
the building styles of past centuries, such as the old wooden beams
right through the era of Art Deco designs. Many of the rooms have
their own character and lay-out. Although there is no standard
lay-out, a number of facilities are standard in all the rooms. In
addition to the usual facilities, such as a bathroom and colour TV,
all rooms have an internet connection.
The Résidence dates back to the 19th
century: the year 1879. The building has the air of the grandeur in
those days. The rooms are spacious and have a high ceiling. A small
inner court yard makes your stay a special experience.
